Bio

Luthier Curtis Rockwell started building guitars and occasionally other instruments in 2001.  He's driven by the quest of matching playability, tonal excellence, simple elegance, and old world craftsmanship to the needs of each individual player with whom he works.  It's a philosophy that recognizes music as the language of the soul, and instruments as one of the primary tools through which we communicate.

A graduate of Bucknell University, Curtis began his professional career as a geologist before finding his true calling in the arts.  He has worked as a professional carpenter and technician in theater, done sound reinforcement for music concerts and festivals, and has performed in many venues.

Curtis is a 1999 graduate of the Roberto-Venn School of Luthierie in Phoenix, AZ. After a short stint working in Durango, CO for a highly regarded instrument repair shop, Curtis returned to his home in Huntingdon, PA to establish Oriskany Stringed Instruments.

His journey of musical discovery and refining craftsmanship continues under his own name.
